The School of The Moment (part 2)

The School of The Moment. Which is the title of an on going research project concerned with instinct, agency, the present and the possible use of sculpture.  This publication is in part a reflection of and simultaneously a parallel to a research symposium initiated by Ralph Dorey to investigate the the creative act whilst re-animating the dead space of the exhibition installation time.     The School of The Moment (part 2) is a volume of writing, image and action regarding what it is to make sculpture and what can be done about using this better. The School of The Moment itself is an ongoing research project which considers the possibility of understanding and harnessing the moment of engagement with reality found in such activity as carrying a rock, pitching a tent or climbing a wall.

Ralph Dorey conducts research into modes of existence in relation to objects as a means of coming to terms with the lost spirit we most readily identify with Modernism. The artist is concerned with the act as a means of both uncovering and documenting, identifying the moment as the site of most consequence. Ralph Dorey completed his studies at The Royal College of Art’s sculpture school in 2008 and continues to live and work in London, writing, exhibiting and lecturing in the UK and abroad. www.ralphdorey.co.uk    Daryl Brown is an artist based in London, UK.  www.darylbrown.co.uk    Isabella Martin is an artist based in Norwich, UK.  www.isabellarosemartin.co.uk    Katie McCallum is an artist based in Brighton, UK.  www.katiemccallum.co.uk    Tom Nash is an artist based in Hatfield, UK.  www.tom-nash.co.uk
