Gareth Long & Derek Sullivan
The Illustrated Dictionary of Received Ideas 2010 Galley #5

One of the two 2011 ABotMs!

This is the fifth in a series of books documenting Gareth Long and Derek Sullivan’s ongoing project in which the two artists methodically work their way through Gustave Flaubert’s Dictionary of Received Ideas, illustrating every word using cleverly-chosen imagery gleaned from contemporary sources. The two artists intend eventually to illustrate all 950 entries in Flaubert’s posthumously published satirical dictionary, but for this, the fifth limited edition galley, they present “Abelard” through “Dolmen” and continue on through “Forehead.”
