The Entourage is a supporting group of individuals who have played a significant role throughout the process of making the Ring of Fire, from actually making costumes, to creating the music to devising the choreographic movement language used during the procession itself. The Entourage for Love are smaller versions of the Sentinel for they are loves future seeds or, seen another way, in the process of germination, dividing, becoming. Together they represent the impulse to nurture and the potential for growth: the things yet to come.

Here are a selection of Marlon Griffith’s initial sketches, artistic renderings, technical drawings, and images of the design process and creation of the costumes for Love’s Entourage. Each mas player in this Entourage wears a smaller set of 4’ wings made of white plastic netting adorned with Punchinello and amber coloured sequins. All wear elaborate chest plates, which like the Sentinel’s, is encrusted with beads and gold leaf that extend up the chest to form a collar. Elaborate and dispersive, this collar’s design appears to dissipate into the wings, the sky, and beyond. If Wisdom is grounded, and the Buffalo and Capoeira connected to the earth, then love is of the sky, the air; love is breath. While Love figures at the end of the procession, is really the beginning.
