Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation is a Mississauga Ojibwa First Nation located near Brantford in south-central Ontario, Canada. The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations are a group of Ojibway (Anishinabe) belonging to the Algonquian linguistic group. The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation culture entails drumming, singing, traditional story telling, ceremonies, pow wows, fasting, vision questing, sweatlodge, and prayer. One of the most important public art works in New Credit is the LSK Art Mural based on the Seven Grandfather teachings. The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation are the Host Nation of the 2015 Pan/Parapam American Games. Alternative Roots, a youth-group based in New Credit provide music for the procession in collaboration with the SKETCH Band and develop the musical score in relation to the movement and spoken word poetry through workshops at SKETCH in July. Members of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation also play “mas” as members of the Entourage.
